Back from Hiatus.

As you may have noticed, I took a little hiatus from The Internet. See, I started to get a mild cold with some congestion on May 18th, and upon realizing a month later that colds don't usually last 4 weeks, I went to the doctor. I'm still on some medication and, as it stands, I've had sinusitis for about 10 weeks now. It's pretty miserable, but not contagious!

With that said, the break from, well, life was kind of nice. Very little internet and even less TV. I got a lot of sleeping and a lot of fun reading done. I feel really out of the loop now, though. Ten weeks of news and blogs and friends of which I've missed out.

Couple bullet points to cover. Just stuffs that happened while I was out.
  • We got a new roommate, Alfredo. Born and raised in Mexico City. He seems cool --he takes out the trash and washes his dishes, so no complaints from me, yet.

  • This weekend I'm finishing up my TESL/TEFL training. I missed the 2007 deadline for the program that I want to do abroad, so I'm going to prepare my resume and maybe teach English at night here in Los Angeles until I can apply for next year.

  • Girl Talk! If you're not listening to it, start now. (Night Ripper was my introductory album.)
  • My BFF/sister-friend and her husband are expecting their first child (it wouldn't be official without a baby blog). Exactly six months from today, she'll give birth and take a semester off to dissertate and raise their ninja gremlin. I can't wait to be an aunt!

  • I switched from a Razr to a Blackberry. I'm trying not to be That Person, though.

  • Drove up to Berkeley for Paul's graduation in late May, which just happened to be my and Ben's birthday, as well. It was the perfect weekend away from the city.
  • One of my best friends from college, Laura, gets married on August 4th. She asked me to do an Irish blessing at her wedding, so it feels nice to be involved. I'm glad it worked out with Pete, they compliment each other well.

  • I finally invested in a decent SLR. I went with the Nikon D80. Hopefully I'll feel more inclined to take and post photos now. *cough*

  • I flew up to Portland for a nice weekend with the parents. My former roommate, Chelsea, drove down from Seattle so it was nice to see her, too. While in Portland, we went to the Saturday Market and I bought a blanket from Appetite. I wish she would sell her blankets and shower curtains in her Etsy store because they were so pretty.

  • And finally, the last bullet point, two of my friends and I started a band. We're working on an official name (suggestions welcome). As soon as that gets figured out, we'll create a webpage and myspace. We're pretty excited. My roommate, Tyler, agreed to mix and manage us.
Just a few photos. The ones of animals were to test the new camera.
